hallucinatory drive

tall americano, two extra shots

pack of smokes

loud music cycling through

techno, to folk-rock, to jazz--

back again.

green and chrome and

burning stars in the sky

the tread leans tight into

the salted road--

going home.

antique doll

Old dolls are almost always weird.
This one seems to be ready to tell us something.

even more ice! ice is my leitmotif right now...

This ice is evolving... it's growing LIMBS so that it can crawl out of the tray and take over the world. Actually, there's a rational explanation for this, addressed here. But I like my idea better. Mal poured them, and she used filtered water, so that's probably why they did this. Still, it's pretty cool.

Do Not Drink.

It's late, I've been reading too much, and I'm so tired this looks like kool-aid.

And the dust rose like smoke in the still afternoon air...

This is actually dust (both from sanding and from 50+ years of life-accumulation), not smoke.

at sea

This was painted by my paternal grandfather in 1935, and it hangs on my wall today. I unfortunately never got the chance to meet him, as he passed before I was born, but I understand he loved to sail. There is a wonderful sense of motion and dynamism in the painting, and I look at it often.

Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,

But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;

For though from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crossed the bar.

plosives liquids fricatives OH MY!

Gold-dust box from Ghana
Broad-tailed perching birds guard
Precious treasure; quiet
Raptors, greedy, blind to
Beauty—money trumps all.

Yellow reliquary—
Ropy scrollwork looping
Gilded cradle: guarding
Birds encircle borders
Over golden treasure.

Thurible of riches:
Heavy hammered chest for
Precious dust; a shining
Trophy, form and fiber:
Vessels value inheres.
